Crop an image from a URL

Paste a link to an image and crop it without downloading it first.

or drag and drop a file here · or paste from the clipboard (Ctrl+V)

How to crop an image by link

  1. Copy the image address. In most browsers: right-click the image and choose “Copy image address” (on a phone, long-press it).
  2. Paste it into the field above and press Go.
  3. Crop, rotate, resize or compress the image, then download the result.

Which links work

The link must point to the image itself, not to the page that shows it. A direct link usually ends in .jpg, .png, .webp, .gif or .svg, although many CDNs serve images from addresses without an extension — those work too.

Images behind a login, on private networks or larger than 30 MB cannot be opened. Some sites also refuse requests that do not come from their own pages. In that case save the image and open the file instead.

Why the image goes through a proxy

A browser does not let one site read the pixels of an image from another site — otherwise any page could quietly copy what you see elsewhere. To crop and save such an image, CropMe fetches it through its own proxy on cropme.net, which adds the permission the browser needs.

No third-party service is involved. The proxy only passes the image to your browser; cropping, resizing and encoding happen on your device, as with any other file.

Your images stay on your device

CropMe works in your browser, in a background worker. There is no upload, no server-side storage and no account, and location, camera and date metadata are removed from the file you download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the URL of an image?

Right-click the image and choose “Copy image address” or “Copy image link”. On a phone, long-press the image and choose the same option.

Why does my link not open?

Most often it points to a web page rather than to the image itself. Other reasons: the image requires a login, the site blocks outside requests, or the file is larger than 30 MB.

Is the image stored on your server?

No copy is kept for you or anyone else. Like any web request, a public image may stay in the Cloudflare network cache for up to an hour, and the cropped result never leaves your device.

Can I crop an image from Google Images or social networks?

Yes, if you copy the address of the full-size image. Thumbnails in search results are small, so open the image first and copy its address from there.

Crop image from URL

The image is fetched through CropMe’s own proxy so that your browser is allowed to read it. Cropping still happens on your device.
